I made my first hire!

It’s funny the way your goals can evolve.

Three years ago, my main goal was to get a “good job” at a reputable company.

Two years ago, it was to maximize my continuing education and seek opportunities to make money outside of my “job”.

A year ago, it was to quit my full-time job and get 10 patients on my schedule under my own company name.

Now, in present day, I’m making my first hire and learning how to employ another physical therapist.

HOW COOL IS THAT?

But the coolest part is the evolution. Because 2020 Roni could not have anticipated the way in which life would unfold. Which means that present-day me can also not fathom the way in which life will change in the upcoming months.

I’m always impressed with people who have a detailed and lengthy five to ten year plan. Often, the only thing I feel somewhat certain of is how the next seven days will play out.

So now I’m sitting here asking myself - how did I get here? I’m not a huge goal-setting girl. At least not truly on the large scale. I think much of this professional progress can be attributed to a constant underlying theme and consistent work towards small, more achievable goals.

The theme: more ownership over the short time we get on planet earth

The work: small, manageable stepping stones that benchmark my progress towards more freedom of my time

I knew that shutting down the clinic while I took a leave of absence to learn how to keep a small human alive would ultimately hinder my business progress. It felt so counterintuitive to simply close shop and turn clients away while I figured out another aspect of my life. To me, it made so much more SENSE to bring another great therapist on board. Why not? This way, I can ensure that patients are still getting the high-quality care promised to them, and my little business can continue to reach new heights.

I will say, opening up the doors to let a new employee in was a little bit of a scary decision to make. Rehab With Roni has been my brain child since 2023, and making space for someone new to step up was daunting and a little off-putting at first. But the reality is, if I really want to achieve more ownership over my time, I can’t be in the clinic 24/7.

Someone has to market, carry out operations, advertise, implement systems, create content, write newsletters, create podcasts, and so on. And that person is ME! At the end of the day, the decision to hire a physical therapist will give me a few more hours in the week to achieve all of these other small goals. Which, in turn, will = big goal reached. Hooray!
